The most common service requests filed in the ward over the past 12 months. Click a bar to filter the map and table below to that request type.
Estimated days from filing to resolution, by request type. Because 311 has no "closed" timestamp, this is approximated from each request's last update. Fastest at top.
Of every request filed in the past 12 months, this share reached each outcome. A canceled request is typically a duplicate, withdrawn, or found not to require city action.
Monthly request volume over the last 24 months. Hover to see a given month's count. Volume has stayed within a steady band, with no backlog spiral.
By the city's own data, the 42nd Ward closes requests faster than most of Chicago. Because every ward files a different mix of requests, the fairest read is type by type. Ward in blue, the citywide average in gray.
Average days to fill a pothole, month by month. The gap is widest in spring, when potholes spike and the citywide backlog climbs. Ward 42 in blue, the citywide average in gray.

This is an independent, community-built site. It is not operated by the City of Chicago, the Office of the 42nd Ward Alderman, or any city department, and it has no official standing.
Every figure on this page is pulled live from the City of Chicago's public 311 open data portal at the moment you load it. Nothing is stored on a server, and the only thing saved on your device is a temporary local cache used if the live feed is briefly unavailable. You can view the raw Ward 42 data yourself.
The 311 dataset has no "closed date" field, so every resolution-time figure on this page is an estimate based on when a request was last updated (last_modified_date). For most requests that update happens when the work is completed, but this is a proxy, not an exact measurement.
311 measures city service delivery, which ward offices help route, escalate, and expedite on residents' behalf. The underlying work (filling potholes, replacing bulbs, painting over graffiti) is performed by city departments such as CDOT and Streets & Sanitation, not the ward office itself.
Ward boundaries used for the map's neighborhood filter are approximate bounding boxes, not the official ward shapefile, and are provided for general orientation only.
